Damit war in Gaggenau f\u00fcr \u00fcber 100 Jahre der Automobilbau begr\u00fcndet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.4em; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em;\">1887 schloss der Berliner Wagenbauer K\u00fchlstein einen Gesellschaftsvertrag mit Vollmer und holte ihn nach Berlin. Dort konstruierte und baute Vollmer verschiedene Motorfahrzeuge, die auf der Pariser Weltausstellung 1900 h\u00f6chste Preise erhielten. Vollmer wurde Mitglied der technischen Kommission des Mitteleurop\u00e4ischen Motorwagenvereins und wurde in Berlin, Potsdam und Frankfurt\/Oder zum polizeilichen Sachverst\u00e4ndigen berufen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.4em; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em;\">Seit 1901 gab es bei der\u00a0<a style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #002bb8; background-image: none; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial;\" title=\"AEG\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AEG\">AEG<\/a>, die von\u00a0<a style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #002bb8; background-image: none; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial;\" title=\"Emil Rathenau\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emil_Rathenau\">Emil Rathenau<\/a> geleitet wurde, eine Automobilabteilung. 1902 wurde Joseph Vollmer Leiter dieser Abteilung, der\u00a0<a style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #002bb8; background-image: none; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial;\" title=\"Nationale Automobil-Gesellschaft\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nationale_Automobil-Gesellschaft\">NAG<\/a>, die Rathenau und er zu einer gro\u00dfen Automobilproduktion entwickelten. Alle Fahrzeuge, die AEG-NAG bis 1906 herstellte, entstanden unter Vollmers Federf\u00fchrung und waren sein Gedankengut. Dazu z\u00e4hlte auch der Lastzug \u201eDurch\u201c, der als erster\u00a0<a style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #002bb8; background-image: none; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial;\" title=\"Lastzug\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lastzug\">Lastzug<\/a> der Welt gilt. 1905 heiratete Joseph Vollmer seine Frau Hedwig geborene St\u00f6hr, mit der er zwei T\u00f6chter bekam und 1955 noch Goldene Hochzeit feiern durfte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.4em; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em;\">1906 verlie\u00df Vollmer die NAG und gr\u00fcndete zusammen mit seinem Freund Ernst Neuberg die Deutsche Automobil-Construktionsgesellschaft (DAC). Bis 1936 wurden Fahrzeuge und Motoren konstruiert und als komplette Werkszeichnung gegen Lizenzzahlung an Kraftfahrzeug- und Motorenfabriken verkauft. Eine gro\u00dfe Zahl von in- und ausl\u00e4ndischen Fabriken z\u00e4hlten zu den Kunden der DAC, da viele Fabriken noch keine eigenen Konstruktionsb\u00fcros besa\u00dfen. Das Unternehmen wurde erfolgreich und lukrativ.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.4em; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em;\">Im Ersten Weltkrieg wurde Vollmer im Rang eines Hauptmanns eingezogen. Er sorgte zun\u00e4chst f\u00fcr die Einf\u00fchrung des metrischen Systems im Kraftfahrzeugbau. Er z\u00e4hlt mit dieser Arbeit zu den V\u00e4tern der FAKRA, die in den zwanziger Jahren f\u00fcr eine Typisierung automobiler Baugruppen sorgte, sowie der Deutschen Industrie-Norm (<a style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #002bb8; background-image: none; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial;\" title=\"DIN\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DIN\">DIN<\/a>). Aus den Erfahrungen mit der Panzerkonstruktion entwickelte Vollmer nach dem Krieg Landwirtschaftsfahrzeuge wie die bekannte Hanomag-Raupe und widmete sich dem Bau von Nutzfahrzeugen. Auch die Entwicklung des Dieselmotors wurde von ihm ma\u00dfgebend vorangetrieben.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.4em; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: 0px; line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00dcber 450 in- und ausl\u00e4ndische Patente und Gebrauchsmuster wurden Joseph Vollmer im Laufe seines Lebens erteilt.
